Development Coordinator


The Ohio Environmental Council seeks a full­-time Development Coordinator in a new position to focus on coordination of major donor moves management, development events, and membership activities. The Development Coordinator will help foster a culture of philanthropy within our organization by analyzing strategies to develop stronger, more sustainable financial support across our family of organizations and by elevating the Ohio Environmental Council’s profile in the philanthropic community.

The ideal candidate will be an effective project manager with strong attention to detail. They will have polished communication skills, and will be proactive and organized. This position is an opportunity to be part of a fast-­paced, growing organization, and expand the Ohio Environmental Council’s impact in the Buckeye State.

Job Responsibilities

The Development Coordinator will be held accountable to goals within the organization’s development plan. Reporting to the Vice President of Development they are responsible for the following:

  • Growing the OEC’s membership base by designing and implementing direct mail, sustainer, and other direct marketing campaigns.
  • Providing excellent customer support for members by serving as their primary contact.
  • Tracking, evaluating, and analyzing outcomes of development programs and plans.
  • Coordinating major donor moves management with staff throughout the organization.
  • Leading multiple development events for stewardship and cultivation.
  • Performing detailed prospect research.

Performance Expectations

As a member of the development team, this position helps fundraise and grow our base of supporters.

The Development Coordinator must:

Identify opportunities for growth in key areas of responsibilities, in the development department, and the wider organization.

Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the demands of the development team. Demonstrate initiative and work as a team player. Approach new ideas with a sense of possibility.

Adhere to the highest ethical standards in fund development. Convey a professional and positive image and attitude regarding the organization and our partners in the advocacy and environmental sector. Demonstrate commitment to continued professional growth and development.

Desired Qualifications

  • Project Management skills

  • Experience in a nonprofit development office
  • Involvement with advocacy organizations
  • Ability to travel throughout Ohio and occasionally work evening and weekend hours
