Executive Assistant

The Ohio Environmental Council seeks a full­-time Executive Assistant to work closely with the Executive Director and executive staff, providing all-around administrative support.

The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented and critical thinker who is adept at working independently in a fast-paced culture. They will know how to offer comprehensive administrative support, anticipating and meeting the needs of the Executive Director, allowing her to focus as much of their time as possible on building relationships and growing the profile of the organization. They will be deadline-oriented, adaptable, have excellent communication skills, and willing to learn quickly and take on new challenges. Job Responsibilities

The Executive Assistant reports to the Deputy Director and is responsible for the following:

  • Providing comprehensive support to the Executive Director on a day-to-day basis, allowing the Executive Director to prioritize high-level needs
  • Offering support to executive staff on an as-needed basis
  • Supporting the work of the OEC’s Board of Directors

Performance Expectations

By supporting the Executive Director, this position provides the resources needed for the organization to be successful, by allowing the organization’s leadership  to focus on the direction and health of the OEC. The Executive Assistant is expected to provide all-around support in a professional and efficient manner.

The Executive Assistant must:

Plan and meet multiple deadlines on an independent basis. Take initiative, be a team player, and be proactive. Successfully manage projects and tasks on a rolling basis. Work quickly and efficiently, while continuously prioritizing necessary tasks. Maintain a level of personal organization that allows for maximum efficiency and represents the organization well.

Handle confidential and/or sensitive information in a professional manner. Adhere to all applicable ethics guidelines and laws. Convey a professional and positive image of the organization and Executive Director in all interactions.

Maintain an open line of communication with the Executive Director and other staff. Anticipate and fulfill the needs of management and the organization as a whole.


  • Ability to prioritize competing needs in a fast-paced environment while working independently and ensuring attention to detail
  • Experience providing administrative support in a professional manner
  • A commitment to and understanding of the OEC’s mission
