Statement From The Ohio Environmental Council On The Ohio EPA’s Decision To Refer The Rover Pipeline Fines To The Ohio Attorney General

Heather Taylor-Miesle, September 20, 2017

Columbus, OH — The following statement can be attributed in full, or in part, to Heather Taylor-Miesle, Executive Director of the Ohio Environmental Council:

“The Ohio Environmental Council strongly supports the Ohio EPA’s decision to refer the Rover Pipeline project fines to the Ohio Attorney General. We encourage the Attorney General to act quickly in holding Energy Transfer Partners financially responsible for the over $2 million in fines related to their egregious environmental mishaps during construction of the Rover pipeline.

“Simply put, when a mess is made, a penalty is appropriate. If the Rover Pipeline project followed the rules and respected Ohioans and our natural resources, these things wouldn’t happen.

“I commend the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency for their leadership on this issue, and for demanding justice for Ohioans against out of state companies seeking to take advantage of our great state.”
