In January 2021, President Biden implemented a series of Executive Orders focused on tackling the climate crisis. Specifically, the Biden Administration implemented a moratorium on oil and gas leasing on federal lands and committed to protecting 30 percent of our lands and oceans by 2030.
What do these actions mean for Ohio’s natural areas and public lands? Miranda Leppla, OEC’s Vice President of Energy Policy, and Nathan Johnson, OEC’s Director of Public Lands, discuss these new orders as well as OEC’s victory in a three-year legal battle to protect the Wayne National Forest from fracking.
