Development Assistant

The Ohio Environmental Council seeks a full­-time Development Assistant to support the development department and its administrative needs. 

The ideal candidate will be an effective project manager with strong attention to detail. They will be technically skilled, and eager to train and assist professional staff. They will have strong communication skills and will be proactive and organized. This position is an opportunity to be part of a fast-­paced, growing organization, and expand the Ohio Environmental Council’s impact in the Buckeye State.

Job Responsibilities

Based in Columbus, the Development Assistant will report to the Vice President of Advancement and is responsible for the following:

  • Produce print materials
  • Perform data entry
  • Manage database
  • Conduct online research
  • Write and edit content
  • Provide events support
  • Additional administrative support 
  • Contribute to OEC’s commitment to integrating racial justice and equity into our work and ensuring an inclusive organizational culture

Performance Expectations 

As a member of the development team, this position helps grow our base of supporters by ensuring the efficiency and productivity of the development department.

The Development Assistant must: 

Identify opportunities for growth in the development department, and the wider organization.

Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the demands of the development team, demonstrate initiative and work as a team player, and approach new ideas with a sense of possibility. 

Adhere to the highest ethical standards in fund development. Conduct work through the lens of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion to ensuring all Ohioans have equal access to the environmental movement. Convey a professional and positive image and attitude regarding the organization and our partners in the advocacy and environmental sector. Demonstrate commitment to continued professional growth and development. 

Qualifications

Required

  • Great attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Previous administrative and technical support;
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Experience with database management
  • Belief in our mission
  • Commitment to ensuring an inclusive organizational culture
  • Ability to work 40+ hours per week, plus occasional nights and weekends

Preferred

  • Experience producing large mailings
  • Experience or desire to learn graphic design;
  • Experience in a non-profit or political organization

Compensation 

Pay for this position ranges from $30,000 to $45,000, depending on the qualifications of the candidate.
