SWACO – Programs Administrator

The Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) is seeking a passionate and experienced professional to focus on waste reduction and recycling in Franklin County Communities. Franklin County is home to 41 local municipalities, townships, and villages, ranging in size from over 800,000 residents to as small as a few hundred residents.  This position will develop and implement innovative solutions to help these communities reduce waste generated and disposed in the Franklin County sanitary landfill.

Candidates ideally will have experience developing and implementing community waste management programs such as curbside recycling programs, yard waste diversion programs, household hazardous waste collection opportunities, and similar programs designed to help communities achieve more sustainable waste management practices.

Candidate must possess excellent communication skills, customer service skills, the ability to analyze complex information, and experience working with local communities. This individual must have a willingness to work in a team setting and the ability to foster collaborative approaches to solve problems.

SWACO is excited to offer this opportunity to an experienced professional in the public services, recycling, waste management, or sustainability field.  SWACO has established an ambitious goal of reaching 50% diversion by the end of 2020 and 75% diversion by 2032.  In order to achieve this goal, SWACO is committed to providing innovative resources and technical assistance to Franklin County communities to help them divert the waste that they generate.
