Energy Efficiency Programs Are Saving Ohio Consumers Millions on Electric Bills

WHEN: Thursday, May 26, 2011 12:30 p.m.

WHAT: Statewide press conference to release an analysis of consumer savings created by Ohio’s Energy Efficiency Resource Standard (EERS). The analysis was prepared by energy experts and consultants in conjunction with environmental advocacy organizations and based on Ohio’s investor-owned utilities’ reports to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO).

The analysis will show that in 2009 and 2010, Ohio utilities saved customers $56 million, over and above the cost of implementation, through energy efficiency programs required by Ohio’s landmark energy law, Senate Bill 221.  Additionally, energy efficiency programs have created jobs throughout the state and fostered the growth of small businesses that implement energy efficiency measures for residential, commercial and industrial customers.
