OEC statement on water contamination in Sebring

Ohio lawmakers can act now to keep Ohioans safe from lead

We are encouraged Ohio EPA is taking swift action in Sebring and are awaiting the results of their investigation to better understand what happened. Ohioans want to know, and deserve to know, that their drinking water is safe.

We appreciate Director Butler’s call for strengthened federal EPA rules, and support any efforts to better protect Ohio communities. However, Ohio lawmakers don’t have to wait for the federal government to do something about this. They can and must take action now to protect our drinking water.
