Heather Taylor-Miesle, Executive Director, July 24, 2015
Heather Taylor-Miesle, an Ohio native and current director of the National Resource Defense Council Action Fund, has more than 18 years of experience advocating for greater environmental and public heath protections. She’s successfully worked with our nation’s top decision-makers to bring environmental issues into the political spotlight.
“I believe that Ohio is critical in finding solutions to our nation and world’s toughest environmental challenges,” Taylor-Miesle said. “The time is right for Ohio’s environmental community to emerge as a leader, and I’m excited and proud to be back in my home state making that happen.”
As the leader of the NRDC Action Fund, she’s grown the organization from a mere concept into an environmental powerhouse in national politics. Prior to this role, she served as the NRDC’s deputy legislative director and held key aide positions on Capitol Hill.
“Heather has the experience, leadership, and relationships we need to become even more effective environmental advocates. We are thrilled to start this new chapter for the OEC and Ohio’s environmental community with Heather at the helm,” said John Marshall, OEC board president.
“This means a lot to our community! Heather’s strong leadership on the national environmental and political scene is undeniable,” said Jack Shaner, OEC interim executive director.
Taylor-Miesle studied political science and government at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. She recently completed her master’s of public administration from the University of Southern California.
Taylor-Miesle will begin as executive director in early September. She is relocating from California with her husband and two children.
