Statement from the Ohio Environmental Council on the Farm Bill Conference Committee

Columbus, Ohio — The following statement can be attributed in full, or in part, to Peter Bucher, Water Resources Director at the Ohio Environmental Council:

“This farm bill will play a large role in helping states like Ohio increase agricultural conservation and decrease excess nutrients from entering our waterways. These programs remove financial barriers to implementing conservation and reducing nutrient runoff.

“The Senate farm bill received nearly an 8-to-1 ratio of support while the House version only passed by 2 votes on the second attempt. This overwhelming bipartisan support gives the Senate a clear mandate to incorporate their strong conservation title into the final bill.”
