Statement from the Ohio Environmental Council on the Resignation of US EPA Director Scott Pruitt

David Miller, July 5, 2018

Columbus, Ohio — The following statement can be attributed, in full or in part, to Heather Taylor-Miesle, Executive Director at the Ohio Environmental Council:

“After a year and a half of ethical transgressions against our environment, Scott Pruitt was forced to resign thanks in part to organizations around the country like the Ohio Environmental Council, and others, calling out dangerous actions.

“Pruitt’s inaction and rollback of critical environmental policies and protections were a major setback to the health of our country, the fight to combat climate change, and the millions of Americans and future generations that demand we have safe communities free from environmental hazards. Because of him, our air is dirtier, our drinking water is more polluted, and our public lands face new challenges.

“We need someone who has the interests of all who call this country home in the next EPA Administrator. We demand that the next Administrator be a strong voice for protecting our environment and ensuring that we leave our country better than the generations before us.”
