INTERNSHIP POSTING: Development Intern

Time Commitment: 20-30 hours per week

Schedule: June 6, 2022 for 10 weeks 

Location: Remote WFH in Ohio, and/or in-office work (either Columbus or Cleveland), pending COVID-19 circumstances

Supervisors: Drew Kaufman, Director Membership Engagement & Samantha Miller, Director of Grants Management 

The Ohio Environmental Council (OEC) seeks an intern to be part of our development team for part-time, seasonal summer employment. Their portfolio of work will be focused on research, analysis, writing, and data management. This internship will provide opportunities to build skills around the grant seeking and submission process, database management, and donor communications in Ohio. This position will provide insights into many aspects of fundraising programs and may be tapped to support other special projects as needed.

Responsibilities 

Assist the OEC’s Development team with grant prospecting, grant writing and proposal development, data management, and donor engagement communications. The work will include:

  • Researching grants opportunities; developing grant overview briefs; analyzing and making recommendations of best fits for OEC’s program teams
  • Assisting with current grant writing needs; developing written content; preparing supplemental proposal documents
  • Supporting the fundraising team’s efforts to thank donors for their contributions
  • Assisting in data management and ongoing data hygiene efforts
  • Creating content and providing support for special development communications projects

Compensation

This internship is a paid seasonal position and will receive an hourly wage of $13 for 20 – 30 hours a week.

Qualifications 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to work independently and on a team
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills are highly desirable
  • An interest in fundraising activities (grant writing process, data management, donor communications)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Suite
