The Ohio Environmental Council (“OEC”) recognizes the importance of protecting the privacy of all information provided by users of www.theOEC.org. We created the following policy guidelines with a fundamental respect for our users’ right to privacy. This privacy notice discloses the privacy practices for www.theOEC.org, and notifies users of the following:
When you visit our site to read or download information, we may collect and store the following general information in order to analyze trends, gather broad demographic information, and monitor site traffic patterns that can help us further develop and improve the design and functionality of our site: your computer’s temporary IP address, browser type, and operating system, the date and time you access our site, the Internet address of the website from which you linked directly to our site; and the various pages that you visit while on our site and length of time visited on each page.
When users request pages from our server, our Web server automatically collects some information about the users, including their IP addresses. These addresses are used by computers on the network to send the requested pages to users.
The OEC utilizes users’ IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our website. We also use it to gather broad demographic information about our users in general. We may combine demographic information supplied by a subscriber at registration with site usage data to provide profiles, in aggregate form, about our users and their preferences in the content of the site.
Our website also uses “cookies” to deliver content specific to users’ interests and to honor their preferences. This information is used to assist us in creating a site that will serve the needs of our users.
None of this collected data contains information that identifies users personally. The OEC also collects information about users during their registration for some of our services or events and user participation in certain activities on our websites. This information includes the name, address, phone, and email provided by you at the time of registration. That information may be collected and included on OEC’s database.
From this database, the OEC periodically sends out informational or advocacy messages, event invitations, and fundraising appeals. Users can indicate that they do not wish to receive communications information from the OEC by contacting us at OEC@theOEC.org or (614)487-7506.
We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline. Wherever we collect sensitive information, such as credit card data, that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personal financial information.
This web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that OEC is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of any other site that collects personally identifiable information.
The Ohio Environmental Council reserves the right to change, modify, or update this notice and privacy statement at any time and without notice.
The Ohio Environmental Council (“OEC”) values and respects its donors’ privacy. OEC will never share a donor’s financial information, such as credit card data, with any other party.
The OEC occasionally rents or exchanges its donor list with groups involved in issues we feel our donors may also find of interest. If you wish NOT to have your name and contact information shared with other organizations, please contact us.
Periodically, OEC recognizes its donors by name in its print and electronic publications. Donors may wish to not be recognized and/or remain anonymous with respect to recognition of their gifts. Donors must inform OEC by phone, email, or in writing if they wish not to be recognized.
The Ohio Environmental Council reserves the right to change, modify, or update this statement at any time without notice.
