Field Biologist Intern

Supervisor:   Nathan Johnson, Public Lands Director

Time Commitment: 10 hours minimum per week

Schedule: Flexible 10-12 weeks, summer 2018

Location:   Columbus, Ohio or SE Ohio

Responsibilities  

The Summer Field Biologist intern will assist with biological surveys and documentation. Potential work could include the following duties:

  • Conduct field surveys in public lands
  • Identify rare, threatened, and endangered species (flora, especially)
  • Write reports on findings
  • Work with other interns and departments

This internship is a volunteer, unpaid position.

Qualifications

  • Interest in public lands
  • Strong plant identification skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently to SE Ohio
  • Willingness and ability to travel over rugged terrain
  • Self-motivated and flexible 
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of GIS and GPS location tagging preferred
