In 1981, long lines of trucks from out of state were dumping their garbage in Ohio landfills. The OEC worked with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to enact a new comprehensive law to govern the transportation, storage and disposal of solid waste and the siting of landfills. We also established a recycling and litter prevention program to redirect some of the waste hitting our landfills.
