On September 19, please join the Ohio Environmental Council and the Environmental Professionals Network for the 2024 Ohio Public Interest Environmental Law Conference. This joint event features a breakfast session starting at 7:15 AM followed by an all-day conference from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. On September 23, 2017, all Ohio students are invited to Student Sustainability Leaders: Networking Our Future; a student-run, student-centric conference celebrating undergraduate and graduate contributions, and supporting future leaders in sustainability careers. In partnership with the National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE) and its Ohio member colleges, the event will be held at the UD’s River Campus. Registration for the event will be free and all students will receive a free one year membership to NCSE. All disciplines of students are invited to attend and present research and scholarship. Non-profits, private companies, and government agencies are invited to attend to network with students, hold an exhibition booth, and to sit as panelists.

Urban farmers seeking to grow or start their businesses face many of the same legal issues as rural growers, while also encountering challenges unique to their urban location. Like other businesses, urban farmers should take care to form a legal structure that suits their goals, protects them and their assets from liability, and prepares for safe and legal labor management. Central State University Cooperative Extension specialist and experienced lawyer Ambrose Moses III will discuss the nuances and key considerations for building your farm’s legal framework, so you can grow with piece of mind. There will be plenty of time for questions, so come prepared to articulate your biggest challenges.
