Columbus, OH — Today, Governor John Kasich announced the nomination of the Ohio Environmental Council Board President Rich Shank, Ph.D. to the State of Ohio’s Oil and Gas Leasing Commission.
The following statement can be attributed in full, or in part, to Heather Taylor-Miesle, Executive Director of the Ohio Environmental Council:
“In naming Dr. Rich Shank to the Oil and Gas Leasing Commission, the Governor has made a wise decision, leaning on Rich’s decades of experience as an Ohio conservationist and scientist. Rich’s tenure as the Director of the Ohio EPA was transformational in Ohio’s environmental history, and Ohio’s Oil and Gas Leasing Commission can only benefit from his smart, science-based approach.
“As the Board President of the Ohio Environmental Council, Dr. Shank is committed to ensuring access to clean air, water, and land for all who call Ohio home. While the Oil and Gas Leasing Commission is responsible for leasing our state lands for oil and gas development, we’re confident that Rich will act as a voice of reason to keep Ohio’s lands pristine for future generations.”
