Columbus, OH – The Ohio Environmental Council issued the following statement in response to the release of the Kasich administration’s highly anticipated plan to curb Lake Erie’s toxic algae problem:
“We are happy to see Ohio follow through on its commitment to develop a plan to address toxic algae. Unfortunately, this long overdue plan does not rein in agricultural pollution, which is the main cause of toxic algae. We need Governor Kasich to lead the way and call on state lawmakers to enact fair standards and enforcement mechanisms to stem the flow of large-scale agricultural pollution into Lake Erie.”
