The Power of Storytelling Amidst the Climate Crisis

March 30 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Join the OEC on March 30, 2022 at 12 PM as we explore storytelling with Grist and their Imagine 2200 project!

Grist is a nonprofit, independent media organization dedicated to telling stories of climate solutions and a just future. Their goal is to use the power of storytelling to illuminate the way toward a better world, inspire millions of people to walk that path with them, and show that the time for action is now.

In 2021, Grist launched a short story contest, Imagine 2200: Climate Fiction for Future Ancestors. They encouraged entrants to envision the next 180 years of equitable climate progress. The OEC is excited to welcome Grist, as well as some of the authors of last year’s stories!

Climate solutions and narratives come in many forms, and the stories of Imagine 2200 illustrate a diversity of philosophies when it comes to understanding the climate crisis. We encourage you to read the stories, consider how they make you think and feel, and how they encourage you to take action!

Whether you’re a reader, a writer, or neither, join us to learn from Grist, their writers, and their approach to climate solutions through storytelling.
