Cleveland Environmental Coalition Unveils Community-Driven Policy Platform
CLEVELAND, OH – This week, the Cleveland Environmental Advocacy Coalition (CEAC), in partnership with the Ohio Environmental Council (OEC), released the 2026-2030 Cleveland Environmental Policy Platform. This set of policy recommendations is a pragmatic, community-informed roadmap designed to drive environmental progress while addressing everyday challenges facing Cleveland residents.
The platform outlines actionable recommendations across seven interconnected priority areas:
- Water Justice & Affordability;
- Parks, Vacant Land, and Green Infrastructure;
- Energy Equity & Community Power;
- Environmental Justice & Infrastructure Equity;
- Workforce & Economic Inclusion;
- Innovation & Industrial Symbiosis;
- and Transportation & Mobility.
Over the course of several months, CEAC worked collaboratively to develop this platform. It reflects resident engagement and community experiences. The platform builds on the progress made in recent years while also addressing challenges in achieving the City of Cleveland’s climate vision.
The following quote can be attributed, in whole or in part, to Brian Siggers, Cleveland Metro Advocacy Director for the Ohio Environmental Council and facilitator of the Cleveland Environmental Advocacy Coalition:
“This platform is about the everyday issues Clevelanders experience: the cost of water and energy, the air their kids breathe, and the good jobs that come from environmental investments. We focused on solutions that are practical, fundable, and ready to implement. Every environmental action or investment from this plan will translate to tangible improvements in Clevelanders’ daily lives.”
“The 2026 Cleveland Environmental Policy Platform is intended to serve as a living document and organizing tool for policymakers, community organizations, advocates, and residents. It is designed to support and accelerate coordinated action across city departments, regional utilities, and partners while strengthening accountability and transparency around environmental progress and investments.”
