OEC Submits Amicus Brief in support of Emerson Creek Wind Farm Supreme Court Case
Columbus, OH — The Ohio Environmental Council (OEC) has filed an amicus brief at the Ohio Supreme Court in support of the Emerson Creek Wind Farm that would be located in Erie and Huron Counties. Utility-scale wind farms are an excellent source of renewable energy for the state of Ohio, and the proposed project will support both the local economy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The OEC’s brief supported the positions of the Ohio Power Siting Board and the applying company, Firelands Wind, LLC. We argued that the Ohio Power Siting Board lawfully and reasonably granted the project a Certificate of Public Interest, Convenience, and Necessity.
You can view the amicus brief here.
The following statement, in whole or in part, can be attributed to Chris Tavenor, Staff Attorney for the Ohio Environmental Council:
“Ohio has the opportunity to be a leader in utility-scale renewable energy. The Emerson Creek Wind Farm helps eliminate Ohio’s dependence on fossil fuels while creating new jobs and revenue for local communities. We’re urging the Ohio Supreme Court to let the Ohio Power Siting Board’s decision stand because the Board got it right—the Emerson Creek Wind Farm is in the public interest and protective of the health and environment of Ohioans.”
