OEC Statement on Call to Protect Ohio Voters in Wake of COVID-19
Today, a coalition of over 65 Ohio voting rights and advocacy groups sent a letter to Secretary of State Frank LaRose, legislative leaders and all members of the Ohio General Assembly urging them to take immediate action to resolve numerous problems with our elections in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, including expanding early in-person voting and vote by mail, enacting emergency preparedness policies and plans for future elections, and increasing poll worker pay.
The Ohio Environmental Council (OEC) proudly signed on to the call for action.
The following statement can be attributed to Heather Taylor-Miesle, Executive Director of the Ohio Environmental Council:
“Our elected officials must take action now to ensure the voices of all Ohio voters are heard in our postponed primary election. Swift action is especially needed for those communities depending on park and school levy funding.
“We also encourage those officials to improve the integrity, security and accessibility of our election system through the coalition’s proposed reforms, especially early in-person voting and vote by mail, to strengthen and modernize Ohio’s elections in advance of November’s General Election and beyond.”
