OEC Reaction to the US EPA’s PFAS Action Plan Announcement
Columbus, Ohio — On Thursday, February 14, the United States Environmental Protection Agency released its PFAS Action Plan, designed to address the historical, continual, and emerging challenges associated with perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The Action Plan comes ten months after the Ohio Environmental Council submitted its Petition for Rulemaking Regarding PFAS to the federal agency.
The following statement may be attributed to, in whole or in part, to Chris Tavenor, Law Fellow for the Ohio Environmental Council:
“The OEC appreciates the efforts made by the U.S. EPA to finally regulate PFAS. Over the coming months, we’re looking forward to engaging with the agency as it develops Maximum Contaminant Levels for PFOA and PFOS.
“However, we expect the agency to respond to all elements of our Petition for Rulemaking, because the health of our families hangs in the balance. Parents should not need to worry about giving their child drinking water polluted with these toxic chemicals.”
