Cassie graduated in 2015 from the Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism with a certificate specializing in environmental studies. After graduation, she interned with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Brookhaven National Laboratory as a science communications intern, and then joined AmeriCorps as a service member for the National Park Service’s Roosevelt-Vanderbilt National Historic Site in upstate New York, where she wrote about local conservation efforts in the Hudson Valley and amplified the park’s social media presence. Following her service, she became a science writer for Inverse, an online source for science and tech news, where she mostly wrote about space and robotics. Cassie recently moved back to her hometown of Columbus and has been freelance writing for various publications like EcoWatch and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
